The Difference Between Silk And Mulberry Silk

What is mulberry silk?

Mulberry silk, also known as "natural silk," is the fiber secreted by silkworms when they spin cocoons. This fiber is a continuous filament formed by the solidification of silk fluid and belongs to natural fibers. It is a natural protein fiber that combines lightness, softness, and fineness in nature. Fabrics made of mulberry silk have excellent effects and feel, being smooth and lustrous. Mulberry silk has a pure white texture and is the preferred raw material for silk fabrics.

What is silk?

Silk is a conceptual term referring to fabric woven from silk fibers produced by silkworms. However, the raw material used for weaving silk can be mulberry silk, as well as wild silk, tussah silk, or oak silk, among others. Among them, silk fabric woven from mulberry silk is considered the finest. Essentially, most international high-end silk clothing brands consistently choose mulberry silk as their weaving material.

Mulberry silk must be silk, but silk is not necessarily mulberry silk. The selection range for silk is relatively wide, but mulberry silk must be sourced from mulberry silkworms.
